About the book
Traversing the era of the British Raj, the Partition and India’s Independence to the here and now of the Internet millennium, the story of six sisters of a patriarchal Muslim family, is investigated by a journalist. Before coming of age, the sisters had run away in the deep cover of the night from a Haryana village to define their lives and destinies. Began an undeclared game of may-the-best-sister win. Earn money, express inchoate talents in the arts, hook the richest husband, raise the next generation right – these were just a scattering of their to-do list. Through confidences and vignettes, updates and interviews, the Mumbai journalist travels between Delhi, Ajmer, Mount Abu and London, to recreate the narrative of a confederacy of women who dared to break the rules way before they were written. The story – blending fact and fiction – could have been chronicled only by one journalist, the grandson of one of the sisters.
About the Author
Khalid Mohamed started as reviewer and co-editor during his teenage years, for Close-Up, a film society quarterly magazine. He then covered crime, politics and the arts for The Times of India, Mumbai, from the mid-1970s, engaged in daily reporting and film criticism. Appointed Media Editor of the paper, he went on to serve as editor of Filmfare magazine, while continuing as the daily’s film critic for 27 years. He reviewed television for The Economic Times besides contributing articles to The Illustrated Weekly of India and Femina. His writing has also been featured in India Today, The Indian Express, The Telegraph, the international film weekly, Variety, and in the Sunday Observer, London. He was film critic for Mid-day, Senior Editor of DNA newspaper, and National Culture Editor and film critic for the Hindustan Times. A post-graduate in Political Science from Mumbai’s St Xavier’s College, he has translated eminent painter M.F. Husain’s autobiography – Where Art Thou? – from Hindustani to English. He has written the original stories and screenplays for three films by Shyam Benegal: Mammo, Sardari Begum and Zubeidaa. He wrote the original stories and screenplays for the films, Fiza, Tehzeeb and Silsiilay and also directed them. He was playwright and director of the stage play Kennedy Bridge. His documentaries The Last Irani Chai, Little Big People on Mumbai’s street children, and The Master: Shyam Benegal, have been widely screened at international film festivals and on television. He has written two short story collections – Two Mothers and Other Stories and Faction: Short Stories by 22 Film Personalities

Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya in Cardiff International Film Festival Jury
Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, who has lately been christened the Queen of Indian television, is also on a binge to set records. Marking her debut in the world of web series, Tripathi stars in Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala, which has been holding the 1st position on the charts for a while now. She also became the first and only Indian actor jurying the Cardiff international Film Festival (CIFF) in 2019. Tripathi will also be a panellist in ‘Women In Films’ panel Chaired by Bethan Sayed. The other panellist include Hollywood actress Anna Lynne McCord And Oscar Nominated Film Maker Florence Aiyisi. Suhail Syed, International Director and facilitator for activities related to CIFF in India, confirmed Divyanka’s attendance.
Said an enthusiastic Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, “I'm delighted becoming a jury member for the Cardiff International Film Festival specially because I'll get the privilege to watch cinema first hand from all across world. I'm expecting it to be an enriching experience, for me watching varied content and performances is going to be exciting!”
Apart from Divyanka Tripathi making her presence felt at the festival, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be commemorated with the prestigious Golden Dragon Award in the presence of Bethan Sayed – Assembly Member and Chair of Culture and Media (Wales), Norman J, Florence Ayisi – Oscar-nominated Documentary Filmmaker, Warren – Legendary British Director, Keith Williams – Video Conceptual Artist, and Joe Ferrera – British Actor is the part of the Cardiff International Film Festival Jury for the year 2019.
Rahil Abbas, the founder of the festival, averred, “Wales as a nation extends a warm welcome to all the film makers attending Cardiff International Film Festival and invites film makers to explore Wales for the beauty and talent it offers.”
Cardiff International Film Festival will be held from October 24th, 2019 to October 27th, 2019 at the historic Pierhead Building in the heart of Cardiff Bay, Wales.
Lil he77, rapping his way to glory
His career bloomed more after Adam 22 from the podcast "No Jumper" recognised his potential after listening to his rap song "Spirit of Ecstasy" wherein Lil he77 starts the rap by conveying that in Indian culture, people like to be pharmacist or doctors or whatever and he's like "oh, now a rapper (himself) too!" This debut gave him his beginning fanbase on SoundCloud which encouraged him to keep writing and working with dedication by achieving success in his passion for Music!

There are over 545k views of this song on YouTube and 2 million views altogether on all the music apps. At such a tender age, he has twenty thousand followers on Instagram which is as appreciable. His fans have increased eventually just by viewing his unreleased music, waiting eagerly for it to release soon.
He has over 1,820,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Lil he77 has ever-increasing fans just because of his passion towards music that will result into him being a star one day and shine wherever he goes and have a great career in music making our India proud.

कार्डिफ आंतरराष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सव २०१९ मध्ये झळकणार नवाजुद्दीन सिद्दीकी यांचे नाव!
कार्डिफ आंतरराष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सव (सीआयएफएफ) चे संस्थापक राहिल अब्बास यांनी नवाजुद्दीन सिद्दीकी यांना प्रतिष्ठित गोल्डन ड्रॅगन पुरस्काराने सन्मानित करण्यात येणार असल्याचे जाहीर करत पुढे सांगितले की, “नवाज आमचे खास पाहुणे आहेत.” आंतरराष्ट्रीय सीआयएफएफशी संबंधित उपक्रमांचे आंतरराष्ट्रीय संचालक सुहेल सय्यद यांनीही राहिल यांनी केलेल्या नवाजुद्दीन सिद्दीकीच्या सन्मानाच्या घोषणेची पुष्टी केली. ते म्हणाले, “राहिलच्या प्रतिसादाने मी भारावून गेलो आणि नवाजुद्दीन सिद्दीकी यांना ही बातमी कळविताना मला खूप आनंद झाला, नवाज यांनी या महोत्सवासाठी उपस्थित राहण्याची देखील हमी दिलेली आहे."

"मुंबई आर्ट फेअरमुळे कला अभिजात बनत नसून अधिक प्रवेशयोग्य व सुलभ बनते." - विवेक ओबेरॉय विवेक ओबेरॉय, पूजा बेदी, मधुश्री आणि कुणाल कोहलीच्या हस्ते प्रतिष्ठित मुंबई आर्ट फेअरचे उद्घाटन!
नेहरू सेंटर, वरळी येथे ११ ते १३ ऑक्टोबर या कालावधीत मुंबई आर्ट फेअरचे द्वितीय संस्करण मोठ्या प्रमाणात आयोजित करण्यात आले आहे. २०१९च्या या प्रतिष्ठित प्रदर्शनास तब्बल ५३२ तरुण, आगामी आणि जेष्ठ कलाकार, सर्व एकाच छताखाली एकत्रित आले आहेत. चित्रकला, शिल्पकला, छायाचित्रे, कुंभारकामविषयक आणि मूळ प्रिंट्स यांसह 3,000 हून अधिक कलाकृतींचे प्रदर्शन भरविण्यात आले आहे. मुंबई आर्ट फेअरच्या उद्धाटन सोहळ्यास बॉलिवूड कलाकारांनी रंगत आणली. प्रसंगी प्रमुख पाहुणे म्हणून विवेक ओबेरॉय तर विशेष अतिथी म्हणून पूजा बेदी, मधुश्री आणि कुणाल कोहली आदी उपस्थित होते. मुंबई आर्ट फेअरचे डिरेक्टर राजेंद्र यांसमवेत गौतम पाटोळे, प्रकाश बाळ जोशी, पृथ्वी सोनी, रुपाली मदन, रीना नाईक, विश्व सहनी, सोनू गुप्ता यांसारखी मातब्बर कलाकार मंडळींनी आपली कला प्रदर्शित केली.
आर्ट फेअर दरम्यान अभिनेता विवेक ओबेरॉय अनेक कलाकारांशी संवाद साधताना, त्यांच्या कामांच्या विशिष्ट गोष्टींबद्दल चर्चा करताना दिसले, त्याचप्रमाणे त्यांनी चारकोल मास्टर गौतम पाटोळे यांच्या कलाकृतीही विकत घेतल्या. प्रसंगी विवेक ओबेरॉय म्हणाले की, “मुंबईसारख्या शहरात जिथे तुम्हाला राहण्यासाठी जागा उपलब्धच नाही तिथे अशा अनेक कलाकृतींचे प्रदर्शन करणे खरोखर कौतुकास्पद आहे ! कलाकारांना त्यांची प्रतिभा दाखविण्याची आणि कलेपासून प्रेरणा घेण्याची संधी मिळाली पाहिजे. मला वाटते की मुंबई आर्ट फेअर टीम ही कलाकारांसाठी चांगला मंच देत असून त्यांना अधिकाधिक सुलभ बनवीत आहेत आणि मला त्यांची ही गोष्ट खूप आवडली. माझ्या लक्षात आले की येथे अनेक तरूण आणि तरूण जोडपी आहेत जी एका बजेटचा विचार करून आले आहेत आणि तरीही सुंदर कलाकृती खरेदी करू इच्छित आहेत. गौतम पाटोळे यांच्या कलाकृतींचा मी विशेष आनंद घेतला. चारकोल कालाकृतींबद्दल बोलायचे झाले तर ते एक उत्कृष्ट कलाकार आहेत. आणि चारकोल पेंटिंग हे एक अत्यंत कठीण काम आहे. पांढरा रंग ही व्याख्या आहे आणि त्याच्या मध्यभागी काळा रंग भरावा लागतो. एकंदरीतचं माझ्यासाठी हा सर्व खूप चांगला अनुभव आहे!"
इतर कलाप्रेमी लोकांना मुंबई आर्ट फेअर या प्रतिष्ठित कला प्रदर्शनाचा १३ ऑक्टोबर पर्यंत सकळी ११:०० वाजल्यापासून संध्याकाळी ७:३० वाजेपर्यंत आस्वाद घेता येणार आहे.
